Sleeping beauty

Camryn often provides me with amusing picture opportunities. She sleepwalks and so I find her in all kinds of interesting places. Here she had built herself a little cocoon.

Canmore

A fun shot. Drew doesn't always smile naturally so it was nice to capture it. Camryn was pretending to be annoyed with so many photos. Yah right!! I like how I captured myself too.

Poor puppy

Here the dog was just minding his own business when the cat decided to attack him. He stood up, turned in a circle, and laid back down.

Getting my creativity on

Today I decided to focus on finding interesting shots. I had some unexpected success. I had fully expected to simply practice and not end up with anything worth posting.

This was a bubble in the ice. You can see the clear ice surrounding this opaque spot. There was water trickling underneath.

This one was particularly interesting to me. It came out looking like a very high rock cliff. In fact it was a hollowed out tree stump that was no more than 2 feet high.

Of course this is a park bench. The sun created an interesting effect that makes the other end of the bench look scuffed up.

The following two photos are of the same thing but just with a different focal point.
Focus on the board in the foreground.

Focus on the post in the background.

In all I took almost 300 shots and came up with only about 60 worth keeping for further consideration. I love digital cameras!!

Some lucky shots from the past

Drew blowing bubbles on a warm winter afternoon

This shot made the national news. Looks like a tornado but was just an interesting cloud formation. Thank goodness Tim Horton's will be okay.

Snack break at Disney World

Wave jumping. Just moments after I got this shot the life guards closed this section of beach due to the choppy conditions.

The journey begins

I have been interested in photography ever since I got my first camera when I was probably around 8 years old. As the years went by I always promised myself that I would take a course or read a book about the subject.

As the years passed I would sometimes get a good shot but most of the time I just got mediocre stuff. I love having a digital camera because you can instantly delete your most horrific creations. Yes, I've had many "blah" shots in my day.

So almost 30 years after getting that first camera I am taking this dream off the back burner and jumping in. You are joining me at the very beginning of this adventure.

The shots in this post were taken this afternoon on my iPhone 4 in overcast conditions. Enjoy!!
